The world lost a sweet soul on Tuesday evening, November 19, 2019, when Margaret "Maggie" Marie McDonald Moody peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior.
Maggie was born in Charleston, South Carolina on December 5, 1940, the daughter of James Woodrow Wilson McDonald and Nellie Myers McDonald. She was a long time member of St. Scots Presbyterian Church in Charleston, South Carolina.
Maggie was predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years James "Buddy" L. Moody, Jr.; father, James Woodrow Wilson McDonald, and her grandson, Michael Austin Moody.
She is survived by her mother,Nellie Myers McDonald; sons, James L. Moody, III (Donna), Gary Moody (Robin) and Scott Moody (Michelle), all of Charleston SC. Maggie is also survived by the lights of her life, 4 wonderful grandchildren who adored their "Honey", Jamie, Amanda, Erin and Grace; brothers, James McDonald and Craig McDonald (Karen) both of Charleston and a sister, Janet McDonald Johnson (Tommy) of Atlanta, Georgia.
Maggie was a proud graduate of St. Andrews High School and a member of the great Class of 1958. She was employed as the secretary to Frank Hanckel of Coburg Dairy for 30 years. She also was the Executive Secretary at Kiawah Island's The Sanctuary, at its inception, when it was being built and after its Grand Opening. She was an avid Clemson fan.
Maggie's home was always open and served as a lovely haven for family and friends. She loved hosting parties and everyone delighted in her wonderful "party dock."
Maggie was a devoted wife, mother, and a loving grandmother. She had a most generous heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and cared deeply for her family members. She was a fantastic cook and truly an all-around outstanding person. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.
A life well-lived is a legacy of joy, pride, and pleasure, certainly Maggie will always be a living, lasting memory our grateful hearts will treasure.
Maggie's Graveside Service will be held Sunday, November 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Rd, Charleston, SC 29414.
