Margaret Budds Bolchoz, 90, widow of Ruford Joseph Bolchoz, Sr., passed away peacefully on Monday, 1 February 2021, at her residence with her children at her side.
Margaret was born on November 20, 1930, the tenth child of Charles Dalton Budds, Sr. and Mary Rosalie Connor. She graduated from Bishop England High School in 1948 and worked as a secretary after graduation at the former Butt's Electric Company. She married Ruford in 1954, and they would spend the next 64 years together.
Margaret was a homemaker in the early years of her marriage, but after her children were grown, Margaret returned to work as a sales assistant with the Trane Company until she retired in 1990. Margaret and Ruford were also co-owners of the Art Store on King Street in the early 1970s. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and was particularly drawn to baking at which she excelled. Margaret was a longtime and active member of Christ Our King Parish where she volunteered with the Christ Our King Lazarus Committee for many years and was especially well known for her delicious macaroni and cheese. However, Margaret's first love and the center of her life was always her family. She was completely selfless and will always be remembered as a caring, gentle, quiet person, a loyal friend, beloved wife, and a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. And while seemingly meek and mild, mere words are inadequate in describing her strength and how much she will be missed by those close to her.
Margaret is survived by two sons: COL J. Manning Bolchoz, US Army (Ret) and Dr. R. Joseph Bolchoz, Jr., (Patty) and two daughters, Karen Bolchoz Ferguson (Lonnie) and Judith Bolchoz Callan (Les). She leaves eight grandchildren: Manning (Sarah), Ryan (Rebecca), Patrick, Trey (Melia), Beth (Andrew), Lonnie, Lauren, and Ian. She also leaves twelve great grandchildren, Kaleb, Lilly, Aubrey, Quinnlynn, Cord, Charlotte, Lonnie, Emmie, Carter, Fritz, Ford, and Sawyer. Margaret is predeceased by: Ruford, her husband of 64 years; her son, Charles B. Bolchoz; five brothers, C. Dalton Budds, Jr., James C. Budds, William B. Budds, Francis B. Budds, and John J. Budds; four sisters, Winifred B. White, Anne B. Searson, Ruth B. Stuckey, and Mary T. Budds; and one daughter-in-law, Maureen S. Bolchoz.
