Louis C. Nenninger, 96, of Charleston, SC, died peacefully of natural causes on Friday, April 4, 2025, surrounded by his three children. Lou is survived by his two daughters, Dale and Jay; his son, Scott; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is predeceased by his son, Sandy and his beloved wife of 69 years, Jeanne.
Lou grew up and spent the majority of his life in New Jersey, mostly near the ocean. He graduated from Rutgers University in business. He met the love of his life, Jeanne Louise Dura, on a blind date at the Jersey shore where they both worked during the summer, Lou as a lifeguard and Jeanne as a waitress. They married in December 1951.
Lou spent his career with NJ Bell Telephone. He had a love/hate relationship with being in charge of communications for all the major professional golf tournaments played on New Jersey courses.
Lou was an avid fisherman and he loved the ocean. For over forty years, the family spent many vacations together at his beach house in Barnegat Light. Lou was devoted to his family. In the winter months the water skis were traded for snow skis.
His last claim to fame was initiating and running the Poker Club at his retirement home. Lou was a character, a great friend, father and grandfather. He will be missed.
