Lorraine B Simkins (Bushey)

Lorraine B Simkins, 79, of Mt. Pleasant, SC died on Monday, July 20, 2015.. She was born on Thursday, June 25, 1936 in Castleton, NY to the late Mrs. Emily Vernon and the late Mr. Robert Bushey. Lorraine earned her Associates degree at Albany Business College and her Master's Degree at Russell Sage College. She taught elementary school for over 15 years. Lorraine enjoyed tennis, sailing, and spending time with her family. She was a devout Catholic, served for many years and volunteered at the Rensselaer County NY Junior Museum. Her family remembers her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Thomas E. Simkins, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; one daughter, Tanya A Teich (Terry Pugh), of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two sons, Daniel T Simkins (Heidi), of Hazelett, VT and David E Simkins (Heather), of Colechester, VT; 6 grandchildren, Jessica, Benjamin, Sophia, Everett, Erik, and Brian; 1 great grandchild, Cameron; one sister, Virginia Fitzpatrick, of Ormond Beach, FL; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her loving parents and two brothers, Robert Bushey and William Bussman. A Memorial Service will be held at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Chapel on Tuesday, July 28th, 2015 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Robbie Hiott officiating. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made in her honor to Hospice Center of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Blvd, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
