Linda Sue Price, 71 of Johns Island, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
Born on August 13, 1952, in Elkton, MD as the eldest daughter of the late Robert Taylor and Mary Virginia (Clark) Tolbert
Linda Sue Price, the eldest daughter of Robert Tolbert, Sr. and Mary (Bumma) Tolbert grew up in Elkton Maryland, with her sisters Carol Ann and Debbie Jean and her brother Robbie. She was a graduate of Elkton High School, where she lettered in field hockey and worked part-time at JJ Newbury. There, she met her future husband, Mal, whom she initially disliked immensely. Luckily for him, however, Mal grew on her over time, and they married and started a family. They moved to Salisbury, Maryland, where, together, they raised their two boys Cristofer and Kevin. While the boys were young, Linda ran a daycare out of their home. As their children grew older, Linda returned to school at Wor-Wic community college, earning an associate degree in accounting. She worked for many years at Snow Hill Nursing Home, where she helped introduce her sons to the healthcare field, a field in which they both still work today. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Charles Brown Glass, in Salisbury, Maryland and for Johnson’s OK Used Cars in Delmar, Delaware. After her two sons had grown and left the house, she opened her heart and home to Jordan Ford, La’Bron Hilliard, and Kevon Whitehead, all of whom she loved as her own.
Throughout her life, Linda was extremely active in local little league baseball. She volunteered with Salisbury Little League, Junior League, and Senior League while her sons were playing and later with East Wicomico Little League, running sign-ups, fundraisers, and concessions. Over more than 25 years of dedication to Little League baseball, she served in various leadership positions including as a league board member, treasurer, and vice president. However, her favorite role was as announcer and scorekeeper. She announced thousands of kids’ at-bats and scored hundreds of games over the years, only stopping in retirement to transition to full-time “Gmom” in Charleston, South Carolina. There she enjoyed her retirement, with her husband, in their waterfront condo on the Stono marsh where she happily doted on, spoiled, and helped care for her three grandchildren, Sadie, Carson, and Rosalie. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law, friend, and Gmom, and she will be missed more than any words can say.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Tolbert, and sister Deborah Jean Pennington.
Linda is survived by her sister Carol Ann Buckett, brother Robert Tolbert, her husband of 52 years, Charles Malvern Price; her children Cristofer Malvern Price (Lisa Kidwell); Kevin Charles Price (Amanda); and her three grandchildren, Sadie Marie Price, Carson Daniel Price, and Rosalie Claire Price
