Linda Kay Lyon, 78, of Vienna, Virginia, passed away in Daniel Island, South Carolina on August 9, 2024.
Born in Velasco, Texas, Linda was a daughter of the late Walter Fountain and Robbie Elizabeth (Perry) Day. She was raised in Dickinson, Texas, where she graduated from Dickinson High School. Linda earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Tennessee and master’s degree in economics from the University of Houston. She was very successful professionally, with a focus on commercial real estate investment management for such groups as Prudential, Resolution Trust Corporation, the FDIC, and MetLife.
Linda was an explorer with a lifetime of adventures in Texas, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Maryland and Virginia. She loved to stay active and walked miles per day around her beloved town of Vienna, Virginia, where she settled in 1997. She adored Vienna and found another “family” at Vienna Presbyterian Church. Linda was very interested in genealogy and had traced her family back 18 generations. She was immensely proud of her Texas roots and her Day/Perry/Caruthers families there. Linda was an absolute force to be reckoned with – strong, fun, smart, and driven. She will be greatly missed.
Linda is survived by her children Kimberley McNees (Scott), Amy Giove (Edward) and Alexander Lyon; grandchildren Michael Pons (Liz), Robert McNees (Holly), Sarah Pons (Leah), Stefanie McNees, Brady Comer and Abby Comer; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Vienna Presbyterian Church, 124 Park Street NE, Vienna, Virginia, on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (Chicago, IL) or Vienna Presbyterian Church.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation – James Island, 347 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412, 843-614-8494.
