Linda Jane Matthews, 72, of Johns Island, SC wife to William Elbert Matthews, Jr. of 51 years, entered into eternal rest on February 23, 2021.
Born on December 22, 1948 in Columbia, SC, Linda was a daughter of the late James Boyce Malone and Mary Smith Malone.
Linda met her husband and the love of her life at the University of South Carolina and they were married on August 29, 1970. She earned her BA Degree in Education and completed two additional Master of Education Degrees. Linda taught for 30 years at C.E. Williams Middle School. Linda was a Master Scuba Diver, Master Gardener and proud Grandmother. She loved travelling and adventurous ATV and UTV mountain rides with her husband, family and friends. Linda loved to paint, especially portraits of her fur babies. She loved gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Besides her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her brother, James Boyce Malone, Jr.
She will be missed by her husband, Elbert; daughter, Laura Matthews Newkirk of West Ashley; grandson, Parker William Newkirk of West Ashley; sister-in-law, Patricia M. Rowland of Murrells Inlet; brother-in-law, Jeffrey Matthews of Georgetown; nephew, Lee Rowland of Murrells Inlet and numerous cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 1, 20201 at Live Oak Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Charleston, SC.
