Lewis M. Lee, Sr., 98, entered into eternal rest on December 5, 2017.
He was a resident at the Veteran’s Victory House in Walterboro, SC for 5 ½ years. Mr. Lee was one of 8 remaining Pearl Harbor Survivors in South Carolina. He retired from the U. S. Navy as Chief Petty Officer BMC and later retired from The Citadel as the head of laundry services. He held a 66-year membership at Hammerton Masonic Lodge #332 as well as an honorary membership at Telluride Lodge #56 in Colorado.
Born on June 20, 1919, in Weston, Texas, he was the son of the late Rush Z. Lee and Elsie C. Lee.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Aretha V. Lee; sons L. Marshall, Lee, Jr. of Savannah, GA and Michael Benny Lee (Connie) of Charleston, grandchildren Amy Lee Owen (Jonathan) and Michael J. Lee of Charleston, and great grandson Ace Lewis Owen.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Leslie Lee, Guy Lee, Earl Lee, and Jack Lee.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. Cherokee Place United Methodist Church, 2105 Cosgrove Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405, with military and Masonic honors. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Charleston Animal Society.
