Leonard Franklin Mixson Jr.

Leonard Franklin Mixson Jr., Lt. Col. (ret.) USAF, 80, of Meggett, SC, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, September 20, 2015. He was born on Wednesday, November 21, 1934, in Jacksonville, FL to the late Mary Alice Tuten Mixson and the late Leonard Mixson Sr. Leonard was a pilot and a flight instructor for the US Air Force for 28 years, and a Vietnam veteran. He was a devoted Christian, and after retiring, he served with Precept Ministries for 25 years. Besides his parents, Leonard is preceded in death by his sister, Doris Mixson Hodge and his parents-in-law, Ernest M. Britt and Mattie Messervy Britt. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Martha Britt Mixson of Meggett, SC; a son, Mark Mixson and his wife, Farryl, of Princeton Junction, NJ; two daughters: Christi Migliaccio and her husband, Louis, of Meggett, SC; Tracy Mixson of Asheville, NC; beloved family friend, Sheila Hutchens of Chattanooga, TN; six grandchildren; and two nieces. A Memorial Service will be held at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jack Moore officiating.
