Lauren Folger Melton was born on April 29th, 1988 In Greensboro, North Carolina and died on May 28, 2018 in Charleston, South Carolina. Lauren is now present in her Lord along with her many family members that have predeceased her.
Lauren grew up in Greensboro, NC and graduated from Grimsley High School in 2006. She attended College of Charleston and graduated in 2009 with her BS in Psychology and received her Masters from The Citadel in 2015. She had recently received a promotion at her job and was the Program Director at Crossroads Treatment Center. She had just passed the South Carolina Boards, unfortunately she passed before receiving her results.
One of Lauren’s greatest passions, along with her family, was the AT Children’s Project. Her oldest and dearest friend Chaz Erwin suffers from AT. Mental health was another passion of hers, as it was her chosen profession.
She loved animals, especially her cat Joey that she had for 12 years. Lauren loved to bake, loved to dance and loved adventure, always looking for a new place to travel and attending as many concerts as she could. She was a runner, an explorer, and brought joy and laughter to those around her. If you wanted to find Lauren you would typically find her at the beach or on a boat wearing her sunglasses and always with earrings, as she loved being near the water. Lauren was the only vegetarian surrounded by a large extended family of meat eaters.
Lauren is survived by her parents: Sydney Folger, Marshall and Tamara Melton; her sisters: Holli Melton, Jessica Melton and Abigail Melton; and her niece and nephews: Matthew Melton, Michael Melton, Kirk Stone and Emily Stone. She is also survived by her maternal grandparents Dr. John and Hilda Folger. There are also many aunts, uncles and cousins that are too numerus to name.
