Laura Waller Hawkins

Laura Waller Hawkins, 67, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023. 

Born on January 27, 1956, in Groton, CT, raised in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of the late Naomi M. Waller and the late Homer D. Waller.  

Laura was a hardworking, dedicated Mother and Grandmother. She was a graduate of James Island High School. In her later years, her nickname was "Ya-Ya" for those closest to her. She enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. Her cooking was spectacular. She was always reliable and always there when you needed her most! She was fearless and persistent through some of life's biggest challenges! Laura taught us that no matter what happens, we must keep living until we live no more. We hold her in our hearts dearly and she will be truly missed!

Besides her parents, Laura is preceded in death by her sister, Sherry Wagers and granddaughter, Jordan Alexis Hawkins.

Laura is survived by sons, Matthew Hawkins and Jeffrey Hawkins; daughter-in-law, Tiffany Hawkins; grandchildren: Matthew Hawkins, Samuel Hawkins Jazmyn Hawkins, Tyler Christie, Briana Hawkins and Jeffrey Hawkins Jr.; great-grandson, Khalil Christie; and sisters, Pamela Parr and Toni Snider. 

We will be celebrating the life of Laura "Ya-Ya" Hawkins at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 3075 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414. Please join us for a reception after the celebration of life.
