Larry Allen Bennett

Larry Allen Bennett, 73, of West Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023. Born on August 1, 1949 in Savannah, GA he was the son of the late Sarah Bennett (Denmark) and Doc Bennett.

Larry was a Vietnam Era Vet and served as an Army Cook. Following his service he continued as a chef working at numerous resorts, hotels, and Golf Clubs. He was a loving family member and a caretaker for many in his family. He loved watching football and eating boiled p-nuts from the Cayce Farmers Market.

Larry is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Bennett; a brother, Dwayne Bennett; and a Nephew, Brandon Starnes. Larry is survived by his sister, Shirley Ortiz (Frank); a nephew, Jason Rhodus(Kristy); a great niece, Kiley Rhodus: great nephews, Jace and Austin Rhodus; his two brother in laws, Randy Rhodus and Manley Hudson: and a niece Christy Starnes.

Although it hurts to lose Larry, we are comforted by a poem that he wrote in 1979. "It hurts so much to lose any of them, but that's why God made heaven for all of us to be together again."

The family will hold a private service at a later date at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
