Kristin Miller Lindley of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina died on Sunday, November 20, 2016 in Charleston. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Frederica Ann Miller and the late Howard Lloyd Miller of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Kristin was a professional musician, a violinist, all her life. She was a graduate of The Juilliard School (bachelors and masters degrees) and The University of Iowa, where she received a doctorate. She studied with Dorothy Delay and others at Juilliard. She loved performing and was a gifted teacher at the university level, including The University of Maine, University of Kentucky, Baylor University, University of the South, and in high schools in Hudson, Ohio, and Charleston. She was credited with starting many on professional music careers. Most recently she taught piano and violin at the Darby Building of the Mt. Pleasant Recreation Department. She was her happiest self when playing or teaching music. She is survived by her daughter Anna Alden Lindley (Anna Maria), her brother Frederick Miller (Rick) of New York City and by loving friends. She was predeceased by her sister Barbara Ann Miller of New York City. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Recreation Department or to The Juilliard School of Music.
