Kenneth Howard Kabine, 96, of Isle of Palms passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023. Ken was born on November 8, 1926, in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Ruth and William Kabine.
He served in the Army in World War II and was awarded medals for his service in the Pacific Theater and Germany. Ken also served our country in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a true pioneer in the aluminum extrusion industry, moving South to Newnan, Georgia in 1953 when Mr. Bonnell began the William L. Bonnell Company. After 10 years there, Ken was a part of the team that began Benada Aluminum in Miami, Florida in 1964. Always wanting to own his own business, Ken became a partner at Briteline Extrusions in Summerville, SC in 1968. His son, Ed, helped build Briteline into a full-service aluminum extrusion company. In 1995, Ken bought his partner out and asked his daughter, Diane, to join the company to expand their sales around the world. Grandsons, Bryan Bagwell and Chris Kabine came to Briteline in 1997, building a strong third generation leadership team.
Ken’s legacy will live on as Briteline celebrates its 70th year in 2023, with 100 dedicated team members. Ken’s loving wife Arlene predeceased him in 2018 after 70 years of marriage. Together they were avid boaters, gardeners, and world travelers. Ken was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his son, Edward Lee Kabine; daughter, Diane Kabine Bagwell; 3 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
