Mr. Kenneth Clarence Childress Sr., 90, of Hanahan, South Carolina, passed away on December 15, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.
Born on December 24, 1933 in Pickens, Kenneth was the son of the late Nannie and Grover Clifton Childress.
Affectionately known as "Big Daddy", Kenneth was a family man who took great pride in spending time with those he loved most. He attended The Citadel and was a member of the Omar Shrine Temple - Hillbilly Clan 82. One of his favorite things to do was cook his famous Catfish Stew for family gatherings.
He is survived by his son Kenneth Childress Jr. (Jennifer), his granddaughters Keri Brown (Ryan), Kelsi Brewer (Gary), and great granddaughters Maci and Emersyn Brown. Kenneth was one of eleven siblings: Carroll "Chick", Frances Clark, Sara Zink, Wilette Evans, Craig, Edward, David, Patsy Nolan, Tommy, and Steve. He is also survived by Beth Darlington, Bo Camp, and many nieces and nephews.
His Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 20 at 2pm at Restoration Community Church, 6058 Miami Street, in Hanahan. One hour prior to the Celebration of Life, the family will have a gathering of friends and family.
