Katie Will Roark, 102, of Greenville, SC entered into eternal rest on January 31 on James Island, SC.
Born on November 23, 1919 in Banks, AR, Katie was a daughter of the late Dillard Artemis Ederington and Laura McLeod Ederington.
Katie loved her family, her community and her church. She was a life-long learner and a patron of the arts. She was a charter member of the Greenville Art Museum and a patron of community theater with season tickets every year for more than fifty years to the Greenville Little Theatre, The Warehouse Theatre, and Furman University Theater.
She attended classes at Furman University's Learning in Retirement program from its inception in 1993 until she moved to Folly Beach in 2020, missing only one quarter in 25 years.
Katie was active in politics and a staunch Democrat. She held numerous offices in the League of Women Voters and Greenville County Democratic Women. She was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1976 and ran for the SC House of Representatives in 1980.
She was an active member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, Greenville, SC.
In addition to her work in her community, Katie had a successful interior design business for thirty years and traveled all over the world, starting with a trip in 1981 to China soon after it was opened to tourism. Her last trip was to Spain and Portugal when she was 80. In the years between, she traveled to Russia, India and Australia among other countries.
Katie is survived by her children Katie Roark of Houston, TX; Lauren Dean of Folly Beach, SC; Nancy Roark of Atlanta, GA; and Nick Roark (Susan Sandeford) of John's Island, SC; grandchildren Charles Boswell, (Susan Peeler) of Greenville, SC; Lauren Stevens (Emile) of Dalzell, SC; Anna Getsinger (Robbie) of James Island, SC; Katie Daly (Jordon) of John's Island, SC; Kirsten Dodd (Dan) of Tega Cay, SC and eight great-grandchildren Madison Boswell, Chase Boswell, Evan Stevens, Cora Getsinger, Kenna Daly, Tanner Dodd, Kendall Dodd, and Penny Dodd.
She is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Walter N. "Dub" Roark.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the home of Nick & Susan Roark, Johns Island, SC on Sunday February 6, 2022, between 3:00 and 6:00 PM to celebrate the life of Katie. A separate Memorial Service will be held at John Knox Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC at a later date.
