Lottie Kathryn "Kathy" Maudlin, passed away peacefully at her home in Chapin, South Carolina at age 87 on Friday, November 15, 2024, following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Born on May 25, 1937, in Scott County, Kansas, Kathy was the daughter of Reba Catherine Walker Harkness and Brannon Burl Harkness. She grew up on the family farm in Western Kansas with four sisters and a brother.

Kathy married George Earl Maudlin, Jr. in Miami, Oklahoma on July 16, 1955. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. 

She faithfully stood by her husband's side during Earl's military postings and numerous assignments due to advancements in his career with the Kansas Highway Patrol and Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Her career in telecommunications began as a telephone operator in Scott City and she retired from state service in Topeka, Kansas. In her retirement years, she enjoyed spending time with her wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kathy's vibrant spirit and cheerful smile had a contagious effect, illuminating the entire room. She was cherished and loved by all who knew her. She was a passionate Kansas City Chiefs and Clemson Tigers fan. 

Kathy is survived by her son, William Craig Maudlin; daughter, Kerri McClary (Jim); daughter-in-law, Renee Maudlin; five loving grandchildren, three precious great-grandchildren, and her faithful dog, Bella.

She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, George Earl "Bubby" Maudlin, Jr.; her son, Bradley Wayne Maudlin, her parents, and her five siblings.

Memorial services will be conducted for Kathy and Earl at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kathy Maudlin St. Jude Memorial Fund with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
