Kathleen Merry-Ann Brown (Robles)

Kathleen Merry-Ann McCarthy Brown, 67, of Charleston, SC, passed away, with family at her bedside, on Monday, September 8, 2014. She was born on Wednesday, December 25, 1946, in Chicago, IL, a daughter of the late Marceline Szymanski Robles and the late Eulogio Robles. Kathy was a registered nurse at the University of Chicago, St. Francis Hospital and Harvest Health and Rehab of Johns Island. She enjoyed eating, cooking, shopping, decorating for holidays and traveling, especially to the mountains. Her family remembers her as a strong-willed woman with a heart of gold who took care of everyone. Kathy was a very devoted mother and grandmother. Besides her parents, Kathleen is preceded in death by one daughter, Suzette Brown Luder, one grandson, David Patrick and one sister, Sharon Hrbek. Kathleen is survived by two sons: Jeffrey Brown of Charleston, SC and Lonnie Williams and his wife, Khadijah, of Charelston, SC; six grandchildren: Alan Patrick, Katie Patrick, Joshua Patrick, Darrien Luder, Damien Luder and Tamairrah Williams; four sisters: Jeannie Rose of Chicago, IL; Debbie DeWitt of Charleston, SC; Marcy Little of Chicago, IL and Carmen Lopez of Chicago, IL; one aunt: Frania Jewel of MI; and a close in-law, Naroibia Jackson of Charleston, SC. A gathering to celebrate Kathy's life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm in the chapel of McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley.
