Kathleen J. Sparkes, 100, of Summerville, passed away April 30, 2015 surrounded by her family. Born in Twillingate, Newfoundland, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Capt. Francis and Emily Torraville Roberts and wife to the late, Robin Sparkes. She loved to play the organ and was a church organist for 17 years. Her family was her pride and joy, and she was an inspiration to them. She was a bookkeeper in Rochester, NY, and she and her late husband loved to travel around the U.S. in their trailer. She moved to Summerville 5 years ago and enjoyed spending time with her friends and neighbors. She lived a long and happy life and will be greatly missed. She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Clark and husband Mike of Summerville, SC and Sandra Herold and husband Kurt of Rochester, NY; son, Larry Sparkes and wife Carolyn of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Laurie Ball (Andrew), Kristine Kirchgessner (Paul), Karen Reynolds and Cindy Sparkes; great grandchildren, Evan Ball, Maureen Ball, Meredith Ball, Adam Kirchgessner, Robin Kirchgessner, Randy Reynolds, Christopher Reynolds and Sean Reynolds; great-great grandson, Gage Reynolds. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL.
