Kathleen Calder Miller, 79, of Summerville, SC, wife to James Bradley Miller of 57 years, passed away on July 15, 2021.
Born on February 15, 1942 in Baltimore, MD, Kathleen was a daughter of the late Robert Kenneth Calder and Marion Revere Calder.
Kathleen, better known to friends as Kathi, had many careers but all in one way or another were in service to other people. She was a preschool, first grade, community college and traveling public school art teacher. She was a dental assistant for a traveling dental van providing care to unserved rural communities. She created two nonprofits: one to serve adults the other to serve other nonprofits serving vulnerable families and especially children. She was a crafter, collector and knitter and created an online store to sell her crafts and collectibles. An almost compulsive knitter she knitted caps for cancer chemo patients and infants in neonatal ICUs. Of all the jobs she had, she always said that her favorite job was being a Mom.
Besides her parents, Kathleen is preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Calder Danner.
She will be missed by her husband: James Bradley Miller; her children: Sharon Miller Cindrich, Kennedy Miller Schultz, Kenneth Clarke Miller; her grandchildren: Madeleine Revere Cindrich, Henry Miller Cindrich, William Calder Schultz, Samuel Wayne Schultz, Quinlan James Schultz, Shelby Kathleen Miller, Page Bradley Miller; and her sons- and daughter-in-law: Stephen Joseph Cindrich, L. Wayne Schultz, and Gina English Miller.
There will be a family celebration of her life at a later date.
