Katharine C Broughton

Katharine C Broughton, 62, of Goose Creek, wife to Joseph Laurence Broughton of 40 years, entered into eternal rest on August 20, 2020, surrounded by her family.

Born on August 9, 1958 in Fayetteville, NC. Katharine was a of Jerry Marshall Crumpler and the late Mary Ellen Crumpler.

Katharine was a dedicated and beloved 4th Grade Reading Teacher at Howe Hall Elementary School AIMS. She was a singer and actress in Spoleto for many years. She was also in many plays throughout Charleston and performed at the Cavallero Club as one of the star performers.

Besides her husband and father, Katharine is survived by her sister Terri Thompson (Bobby) of West Ashley, brother Jerry Marshall Crumpler, Jr. of Summerville; mother in law: Sarah Broughton; sisters in law: Deborah Baker (Marty), Naomi Broughton (Karen), Ruth Tocco (Larry); many loved nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

In the words of her beloved Principal Christopher D. Swetckie: "We plan to take the good memories of Mrs. Broughton and build on them because she will always be remembered. Please take a moment this weekend to read with your child. Mrs. Broughton loved to read and cherished the opportunity to read to her students. I can think of no better way to honor her memory than for all AIMS families to spend some time together reading a book in honor of her."

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2020 at McAlister-Smith West Ashley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Katharine`s memory may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or donate a book to the Howe Hall AIMS Library.
