Judy Greene McCann died Wednesday, October 17, 2018 after a brief illness. She was 78.
Judy was the daughter of the late Lowell Eugene Greene and late Annie Dell Floyd and granddaughter of the late Sibbie Strickland Greene.
She is survived by her children: John Robert Van Landingham III (Katherine) of Houston, TX, Allison Van Landingham Tysinger (David) of Mount Pleasant, SC and Leslie Tysinger Herrion (Tom) of Tampa, FL; her beloved grandchildren: grandson Robert James Herrion; granddaughters Brittany, Caroline and Camryn Van Landingham; her sisters: Brenda Field (Mike), Pat Locklair (Paul) and Norma Jean Allen, and brother: Jimmy Allen (Debbie), and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and devoted friends.
She was preceded in death by brother Madison "Sonny" Greene (Shirley), and husband James "Ted" McCann.
She graduated from McClenaghan High School in Florence. She was an insurance agent with Drucker and Falk and a real estate agent and broker in Newport News/Williamsburg, VA and Mt. Pleasant for many years. She was involved in many civic organizations, including serving as the past President of the East Cooper Republican Women's Club, State Parliamentarian of the South Carolina Federation of Republican Women, longtime member of Junior Women's Clubs and many area garden clubs. Judy was an avid bridge player and competitive athlete. She represented James River CC, Deer Run and Kingsmill Golf Club in many VA Women’s Golf State Team Matches and also loved playing competitive tennis. A passionate sports fan, she loved cheering for son-in-law, Tom’s college basketball teams wherever he was coaching. She enjoyed playing bridge at the Mt Pleasant Senior Center, competitive UNO games with grandson Robert, and walking the Pitt St Bridge with her loving canine companion, Logan.
A Celebration of Judy’s Life will be held from 5 PM – 7 PM, on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Mt Pleasant, 1520 Rifle Range Road; Mt Pleasant, South Carolina, 29464, 843-884-3833.
