Judith Georgia Hawco Sterner, 74, of Charleston, SC passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, May 24, 2015. Judy was born October 18, 1940, in New York, NY, to the late Lottie Weeks Hawco and the late John Hawco. She was employed by the Clemson Extension Service for 20 years and later retired with Cummins Engine Company, after 20 years of service. She was also a piano teacher. Her passions were children, animals and piano. She was a true humanitarian. Judy had an open door and heart for any person or animal in need. Her family remembers her as a strong, compassionate woman and a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by three children: Alicia Sterner, Denise Sterner, John Sterner all of Charleston, SC; two grandchildren: Cassandra Cabato and her husband, Raymond; and Wil Sterner; and three great-grandchildren: Attianna, Raymielle and Maddix. She also leaves behind her three 4 legged babies. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life gathering from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday, May 29, 2015, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel. Casual attire is appreciated.
