Juanita Jones Garrett, went home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2021. She was born March 23, 1926, in Greenville, SC, daughter of the late Helen Osteen Jones and William Claude Jones and wife of the late William Perry Garrett.
Surviving is one son, Brian Garrett (Paula), of Charleston, SC, one daughter; Susan Garrett Warren of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren, William Warren (Anita), David Warren (Katie), Drayton Garrett Edwards (Daniel), and Hannah Grace Garrett; and one great-grandchild, Rory Grace Edwards. Also, surviving is one brother G. Wendell Jones (Barbara) of Greenville, SC, three sisters, Lorene Jones Peterson of Travelers Rest, SC, Donna Jones Skelton (Joe), and Sandra Jones Loftis (Dwight) of Greenville, SC. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Elam, Hoyle, Curtis, Virgil, and Thomas C. Jones, and one sister Martha Jones Vermillion, all of Greenville, SC.
Juanita was an active long-time member of the James Island Baptist Church. She taught an Adult Ladies Bible Class, the LLL (live, love, learn), sang in the church choir for many years, was a member of the Women's Missionary Union, and involved in mission projects.
Juanita was employed by The Post and Courier as a payroll clerk for 28 years having retired in 1988. After retiring she and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the country in their travel trailer.
The family would like to thank her caregiver for the last few months, Linda Kitching, for the kindness, love, and attention she showed towards Mom, and Candy Charping, Hospice Nurse, for her guidance and love through this difficult time.
A Graveside Visitation with family members will be held at 2:00 PM at Live Oak Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 3093 Ashley River Rd, Charleston, SC on Monday, February 15, 2021. A Graveside Committal Service will follow at 3:00 PM at Live Oak Memorial Gardens Cemetery. All visitors are requested to wear face masks during the visitation and service.
