Joseph B. Tavormina of Mount Pleasant, SC, great husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and World War II Veteran, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 4,1923, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Joseph was a son of the late Vincenzo Tavormina and Concetta DiBella Tavormina.
Joe was born and lived most of his life in Elizabeth, NJ. A proud veteran, he served in the US Army during WWII; and he worked for Exxon for 41 years. In recent years, he lived with his youngest son, Jay, in Charleston, SC.
He enjoyed his family and friends right up until the time he suffered an irreversible stroke, less than one
week before his death at the age of 97.
He was Pop to his sons, Vincent, John and Jay and PopPop to his seven grandchildren. He cherished his family and friends and let them know how much he loved them. He will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by Anne, his wife of 70 years, and his eldest son, Joseph Jr.
Joe is survived by his sister Rose, brother Jake, his sons Vincent, John and Jay, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be scheduled in the future.
