Josefina Yuson Param

Born on April 21, 1937, in Manila, Philippines, Josie was the third eldest of 12 children of (the late) Jose and Virginia Yuson. 

Josie was first and foremost, a servant of God.  Her strong faith inspired her to be the most loving wife, mother, sister, and friend to all who knew her.  Her greatest joy was serving God and being with family.  When she wasn’t at church, Josie spent her time doing things she loved the most: taking care of her family, traveling (especially pilgrimages), and eating out.  An adventurous soul, she left the Philippines in 1968 giving her family a few hours’ notice before boarding her flight to the US with her friends.  She eventually landed in Boston where she worked as an accountant.  Later, she met her would-be husband Virgilio Param and became a naval spouse.  Together, they embarked on a marriage that spanned Hawaii to Italy and everywhere in between before settling in Goose Creek. There, she landed a job with the Defense Finance and Accounting Services from which she later retired. 

Josie is preceded in death by her husband, Virgilio Param and her siblings Florentina, Asuncion, Rosario, Felisa, Jose, Antonio, and Luis.

She is survived by her children Jennifer Finch (daughter) with husband Kevin and their children Audrey, Abigail, and Annabelle; Vincent Param (son), with wife Jami and their children Paxton and Pria; Joyceline Kiefer (daughter) with husband Kory and their children Kayla, Madison, and Cole; Vernie Param (son) with his wife Jennifer and their children Valerie, Jayden, and Vanessa; and Josie’s siblings Maria Clara, John, Cesar, and Mario.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation at 869 St James Ave Goose Creek, SC 29445. 

The funeral mass will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church at 510 St James Ave, Goose Creek, SC 29445.  The burial will immediately follow at Plantation Memorial Gardens 3345 S Live Oak Dr, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
