Jonathan Michael Lonon, 32, of Charleston, SC, died on Monday, April 7, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born on Wednesday, December 16, 1981, in Spartanburg, SC, to William D. Lonon and the late Susan Bean Lonon. Michael attended St. Paul's Catholic School and Church, and Spartanburg High School, where he was a 2000 National Honor Society graduate. He was a Presidential Scholar at the University of South Carolina, graduating in 2004, with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Michael was employed by AAI Corp. of Charleston. Michael was an environmentalist and enjoyed hiking and camping. He was a devoted father to his two children. Michael will be remembered for his patience, his tenacity, his humanity, and his curiosity for life. Michael is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 7 1/2 years, Angeline 'Anna' Bumgardner Lonon of Charleston, SC; son, Jonathan 'Jack' Gardner Lonon of Charleston, SC; daughter, Harper Rose Lonon of Charleston, SC; older brother, Josh Lonon (Julie) of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Leah Costner (Bert) of Kings Mountain, NC; nephews: Alex and Charlie Lonon of Spartanburg, SC and Trey Costner of Kings Mountain, NC; niece, Rosemary Costner of Kings Mountain, NC; and grandmother, Mary W. Butler of Spartanburg, SC. The family would like to acknowledge the doctors, M. Boyd Gillespie, Keisuke Shirai, Anand Sharma, and staff at Hollings Cancer Center for their years of hard work, hope and dedication, as well as the staff of Odyssey Hospice, especially Karanne Campbell, Tamarah Cutright, Sherrie Abbott, Father Anthony Nicklaus and Kate Rogers. A memorial service will be held at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401, on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 3:00PM with Reverend Maggie Beamguard officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall.
