Johnnie Shelton

Johnnie J. Shelton, 56, of Goose Creek, passed away June 6, 2017.

Born in Clovis, NM, he was the son of Esther Shelton and the late Wesley Shelton. After graduated high school, John joined the United States Navy and served his country for twenty one years, retiring as Electronics Chief Petty Officer First Class (SW/AW). John went on the work for SAIC as an Electronics Field Engineer. He held various positions within the Cub Scout and Boy Scout organizations. John was a past Cub Scout Den Leader, Cub Scout Master, Boy Scout Leader and Assistant Scout Master. He also was active with his children's activities in high school as a member of the Goose Creek High School JROTC Booster Club and Goose Creek High School Swim Team. John enjoyed gaming, camping, hiking, running and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of twenty five years, Patricia Carmichael Shelton; sons, Johnathan Shelton and Benjamin Shelton, both of Goose Creek; granddaughter, Josie Shelton of Goose Creek; mother, Esther Shelton of Moncks Corner; siblings, Jerry Shelton of Michigan, Jimmy Shelton of New York and Theresa DuMont of Mount Pleasant. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. Burial will follow with military honors in Beaufort National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to service from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
