Johnie Gray Dawes

Mr. Johnie Gray Dawes, 89, of Charleston, widower of the late Philomena Dawes, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Johnie Gray Dawes was born on April 19, 1925 in Rocky Mount, NC to the late John and Bloomer Dawes. Mr. Dawes was a WWII veteran who served in the US Army in the European theater. He retired as a Supply Officer with the Charleston Naval Shipyard Naval Supply Center. Survivors include his three daughters, Sylvia McCorkle (Gene) of Troy, VA, Anita Kilgore (David) of Bonneau, SC and Linda Hood (Dexter) of Hollywood, SC; a sister, Shirley Murray of Midlothian, VA; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
