John Townsel Combs, 66 years old, of North Charleston, South Carolina beloved husband to Mary Bee
Combs for 46 years, entered into eternal rest on January 24th, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Born on March 25th, 1955 in Pikeville, Kentucky, John T. was a son of the late Bennie Mae Combs and Dr.
Gene Norman Combs.
John T. began a career as a musician at a young age playing in various bands. He performed solo many
times at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee which was considered his favorite venue. Besides
playing music, John T. enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist
Church in Pikeville, Kentucky.
Besides his wife Mary Bee, he is survived by his two daughters Cynthia Brooke Combs and Emily Caudill
Stoneroad and her husband Dwaine of North Charleston, South Carolina, and one grandson Ryker Paul
Stoneroad. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Gene N. Combs, his wife Jill Freedman, and his sister,
Nancy Howard, husband John, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family.
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for John T. on February 11th, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 PM at
McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation in West Ashley, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414
