John Edward Benecki

John Edward Benecki, 78, of Goose Creek, SC, died suddenly on Saturday, April 18, 2015. He was born in Erie, PA on February 24, 1937 to the late John and Jane Benecki. John earned his Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Detroit. His 37 year career with General Electric included work in Nuclear Power in California and North Carolina and Aircraft Engines in Ohio. He was known for his musical talent of playing the piano by ear and being a “Mr. Fix‐It”. John was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and a past board member of Helping Hands of Goose Creek. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rosarie Benecki; five children, Peter Benecki of Greenville, SC, Julie Guebert of Atlanta, GA, Laura Cooper of Columbia, SC, Jim Benecki of Wilmington, NC and Tom Benecki of Auckland, New Zealand; twelve grandchildren, Jake Benecki, Mary Cameron Benecki, Allison Guebert, Paul Guebert, Luke Benecki, Emily Guebert, Noah Benecki, Philip Cooper, Bruno Benecki, Claire Cooper, Olive Benecki, and Suzanna Cooper; two sisters, Mary Ann Toohey and Patricia Straub. The family will celebrate John’s life with a funeral mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 510 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek SC 29445 on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund.
