John Joseph Coleman entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
John was born in the Bronx, New York on October 17, 1950 to Tom and Joan Coleman.
His early years were spent in Jeffersonville, New York. The family then moved to Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. John attended Corpus Christi Grammar School and graduated from Hasbrouck Heights High School in the class of 1969. He joined the US Postal Service in 1971 as a letter carrier and retired after 35 years in 2006. He and Linda moved to Summerville, South Carolina. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants, New York Mets, and the New York Rangers. He held season tickets for the Giants and the Rangers for years. His greatest memory was to have taken his father to the 1987 Super Bowl in California when the Giants won!
John is preceded in death by his parents.
John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Linda Coleman; his step-daughter, Kelly Goldfarb (Scot); his step-son, Christopher McWilliams; his 2 grandsons, Branden and Nicholas; his brothers, James Coleman (Missy), Thomas Coleman (Mary), and Lawrence Coleman (Debbie Kienle); his sister, Elizabeth Burdzy (Brian); his wonderful nieces and nephews, Peter, Lauren, Kerry, Michael, Daniel, Brian, Caitlin, Erin, and Ian; and his 9 great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will hold a memorial mass to celebrate John's life on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 starting at 11:00am at Saint John the Beloved Catholic Church, 28 Sumter Ave., Summerville, SC 29483.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
