John Christian Roberson

John Christian Roberson, 46, of Charleston, SC, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at his home.

Christian was born on April 15, 1975 in Stuart, Florida to the late John Ronald Roberson and Rebecca Lou Dantes.

Christian spent his early childhood in Florida before moving to Germany with his Mother. While there, his Mother met and married the late Richard Dale Joiner. They returned to the United States to start their life in Lawton, Oklahoma. It was there that Christian was welcomed into the Joiner family. Soon after, his brother Ashley was born. Christian maintained a close bond with Rick, who was a major influence in his life.

Eventually, Christian settled in Charleston with his Mother. She later married Jonathan Dantes. Christian spent the next decade learning from Jon and working at the family business in the Charleston City Market.

In 2001, Christian fell in love with Shannon, and in 2003 the couple married. The next several years were spent establishing a home, traveling and enjoying their new life together. They went on to welcome their daughter, Isabela in 2009. Christian was a kind and loving partner to his wife and an amazing father to his “Boopa”, as he called her. They lived in the West Ashley area with their Boston terrier, Reuben.

During this time, Christian graduated from Trident Technical College with a degree in Digital Media. He worked as a content developer for Microburst Learning and he loved his work. During his 14 years with the company he was close to the Microburst team and they became family.

Throughout his life, Christian was very adventurous and often sought out new hobbies. He earned his private pilot license and eventually gained his instrument rating. Some things he enjoyed throughout his life included boating, water sports, martial arts, bee keeping, art, photography, music, reading and running. He was a talented musician and cherished the time he spent making music with his cousins in Wauchula, Florida.

When asked, friends and family described Christian as happy, loyal, caring, humble, hardworking and determined. There was a calm presence about him but he was also adventuresome. He was a creative man with a unique sense of humor. Above all else, Christian was devoted to his family and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Christian leaves behind his wife, Shannon Roberson; daughter, Isabela Roberson; Mother, Rebecca Dantes; Brother, Ashley Joiner, husband to Tanya Odom; Nephews and Niece, Benjamin Lipka, William Lipka, Sarah Lipka, Jace Joiner, Jameson Joiner; Uncles, Wallace Roberson, husband to Gloria (Connolly), Jerry Kiella, Mark Kiella, Leonard Joiner, husband to Debra Gundy; Aunts, Linda (Roberson) wife of Floyd Chason, Marilyn Peterson; Donna Smithwick; Brother in Law, Harold Lipka, husband to Elizabeth (Bergen); Cousins, Nita, Lewis, Edward, Henry, Ricky, Elaina, Cameron, Jeremy, Heath, Steve, April, Caity, Danny, Joleyna, John, Leah and Mike; Half-brother, Brandon Raborn; Half-sister, Temple Johnston

Christian is preceded in death by his Fathers, John Roberson , Richard Joiner, Jonathan Dantes; Grandparents, John and Reba Roberson; Peter and Marion Kiella; Joseph and Lucille Joiner; Niece, Megan Lipka.

Family and friends will be received on March 5, 2022, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL & CREMATION, West Ashley Chapel, 2501 Bees Ferry Rd, Charleston, SC 29414

The funeral service will be held at the chapel at 1:00pm.
