John E. Cannon, 47, of Johns Island, South Carolina, passed away at home from a sudden illness on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
Born on February 11, 1977, in Knoxville, TN was the son of Catherine Durette and George Cannon.
John was a wonderful husband and father and an established chef. He loved music, movies, sports, the beach, laughing and spending time with friends and family, and of course, his sneakers. He was so loved and appreciated by those who knew him.
John is preceded in death by his grandparents Alice and Richard Durette of Wells, Maine, and E. Chester and Faye Cannon of Knoxville, TN. He is survived by Melissa Cannon, his wife of seven years, one daughter, Jayde Cannon, his parents, Catherine Durette of Summerville SC, and George Cannon of Hudson MA, sister Sarah Oppenheim, and her husband Kenneth Oppenheim of Andover MA, and his two nieces Anna and Alivia whom he adored. He also leaves behind aunts, uncles, and cousins Corinne and Gary Austin of Clearwater, Florida. Tony Cannon of Kingston, TN, Maureen Durette of E. Wallingford, VT, Greg Austin and family of Tampa, Florida, Jennifer Eagleton and family of Marietta, GA, and Zelda-Marie Flynn of Goffstown, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 11:00am at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3871 Betsy Kerrison Parkway, Johns Island, SC 29455.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization that was near and dear to his heart.
