John Stafford Brinson, Jr.

John Stafford Brinson Jr., 72, of Charleston, SC, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

Born on April 1, 1951, in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late Mary Shikula Brinson and the late John Brinson.

John began The Brinson Insurance Agency 32 years ago and was the owner/operator. He attended C.W. Post University in New York. He was an avid New York Football Giants fan and season ticket holder. He had a passion for traveling, mainly to New York, Las Vegas, and tropical destinations. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as much as possible. He coached youth baseball and football. He was beloved by all he taught how to play the game, but he also showed them how to be better people in life.  This was most important to him.

As a man of true integrity, John would never budge under any circumstances. A man with a simple taste of jeans and t-shirts, he focused on providing his wife and son with the best life possible without worrying about himself.  John was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family, who loves him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in all he knew.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John Brinson, and his parents-in-law, Kathleen and Chester Jackowski.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janet; his son, John Stafford Brinson III; his brother, Robert Brinson and his wife, Beth Brinson; his brother-in-law, Thomas Jackowski; his nieces; nephews; great-nieces' great-nephews; and his faithful dog, Bob.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm, on Monday, February 12, 2024, at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, 347 Folly Road, Charleston, SC.  An inurnment will follow at 1:00 pm at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC.
