John Austin Keenan

John Keenan, 39, of Charleston, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016. John Keenan was born on August 23, 1977 in Charleston, SC to Norman “Rusty” Keenan III, and Wilma Cantey Deddish. He was a James Island High School and College of Charleston graduate. He was an avid reader, fierce Clemson Tiger fan and he also loved surfing at Folly Beach where he spent many hours. In addition to his parents, John is survived by his loving co-parents, Wendy Keenan and Michael R. Deddish, Jr.; step-sisters, Suzanne D. Taylor and Laura D. Burton; and very special cousins and nephews, Keenan and Zachary Pope. He also leaves behind many special friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Nettie Cantey, his grandmother, Frances B. Keenan and his sister, Stacy E. Pope. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Harbor View Presbyterian Church, 900 Harbor View Rd, Charleston, SC 29412. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM on Friday, November 25, 2016 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island Chapel.
