Joan Michele Hazzard, 79, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019.
She was born on July 11, 1939 in New York, New York, daughter of Anna Stahl and Otto Schoenfelder.
Joan was preceded in death by her sister, Anne Marie Pollaci.
In addition to her loving husband of 60 years, Edwin Hazzard of Charleston, South Carolina, she is survived by her son, Edwin Hazzard Jr and his wife Lorrie of Charleston, SC; her daughter, Jacqueline Holmes and husband Ron of Milliken, CO; six grandchildren: Stephanie, Dana, Anthony, Heather, Tiffany and Ryan and one great-granddaughter, Audrey.
Joan was a beloved elementary school teacher for 30+ years and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed bowling, golf, knitting, reading, travelling and going to the casino. She was especially fond of BINGO.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley.
A Requiem Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Saint Timothy's Church, 1900 Old Parsonage Road, Charleston, SC 29414.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or a charity of your choosing.
