Jerrye Lynn Scofield

September 1, 1947 — September 28, 2021

Jerrye Lynn Scofield, 74, of Daniel Island, SC, loving wife of Timothy Edwin Scofield for 48 years, entered into eternal rest on Sept. 28, 2021, surrounded by her loving family, after a valiant three-week battle with COVID-19.

Born on Sept. 1, 1947 in North Little Rock, AR, Jerrye was the daughter of the late Mike and Dorothy Kuykendall. She is survived by husband Tim; two children Chris (Sara) of Excelsior, MN, Julie (Dan) of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren Davis, Nolan, and Sam T.; sister-in-law Suzanne Palumbo; brother-in-law Michael Scofield (Ann); niece Katherine (Zhong Lei and their son Brady); and brother Joel Kuykendall.

She is also preceded in death by daughter Jennifer, parents-in-law Edwin and Nancy, brother-in-law Nick Palumbo, and her beloved grandmother, "Minna".

Jerrye supported Tim and established a beautiful home for their children as the family moved around the country. No matter where Jerrye and her family lived — Winston-Salem, NC, Campbellsville, KY, Charlotte, NC, San Mateo, CA, Wykoff, NJ, or Charleston, SC — she always took charge of the home and the many activities of the children. She was an organizer extraordinaire. Whether it be "team mother" for a soccer or baseball team, running the annual Serra High School auction in San Mateo, scoutmaster for Cub Scouts, raising money to fund a trip to England for a soccer team, or traveling on a bus with Julie for nine months in the national touring company of "The King and I," Jerrye made a special effort to volunteer for everything. She ensured her family was established, involved in the community, and supported Tim's professional career.

In retirement, Jerrye focused on her own personal interests including a few years of golf and bridge in Wild Dunes, followed by bridge, mah-jongg, canasta and pooling with the "mermaids" in Daniel Island. A favorite passion was traveling to a multitude of locations to support her beloved College of Charleson men's basketball team.

More than anything, Jerrye was known for her love of her three beautiful grandsons. She kept the delivery routes busy with shipments of gifts to Davis, Nolan and Sam. Her pantry was always kept stocked with special foods for the boys' visits, and grandma's "magic closet" always had something new for them.

She will be missed. Her energy, fire, spirit, and love of life were obvious to all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 4, 2021 from 3-5 p.m. at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Rd., Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 with a reception to follow on Daniel Island at the Cabana Pool.

A committal service will be held at Mepkin Abbey at a later date with a Celebration of Life service to follow.
