Jean Blackwell Shelton

Jean Blackwell Shelton, 68 of Goose Creek, SC, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022.

Born on December 21, 1953 in Clinton, SC, she was a daughter of the late Grace Jackson Blackwell and George Blackwell Sr..

Jean graduated from Clinton High School. She was a former choir director and active member of Living by Faith Baptist Church. She retired from 30 plus years with Berkeley County School District. Jean was a loving mother and grandmother.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband Michael R. Shelton Sr.; father, George Blackwell Sr; her mother, Grace Blackwell; two brothers, George William Blackwell, Jr. and Clarence Blackwell and three sisters: Diane Abrams, June Adams and Grace Bryant.

Jean is survived by daughter, Angela Shillinglaw (Ormand) ; three grandsons: Wyatt, Waylon and Layne; one granddaughter: McKinlee; one sister, Patricia Fowler and several nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, 5th of September, 2022, from  5:00 PM -  7:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation - Goose Creek, 869 St. James Avenue in Goose Creek, South Carolina. 

The service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September  6, 2022 at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation - Goose Creek, 869 St. James Avenue in Goose Creek, South Carolina. The burial will be held at 3:00 PM at Greenwood Memorial Gardens in Greenwood, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association Charleston https://www.alz.org/sc.
