Jean Howard Garren

Jean Howard Garren, 68 of Cottageville, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.

Born on April 10, 1954 in Key West, FL. Jean was a daughter of (the late) Veronica Howard (Gillin) and Ralph Howard.

Jean was one of 8 children and a twin as well. She graduated Bishop England High School and obtained an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Palmer/Trident College. She retired from the job she loved as a CAMS engineer at Boeing in 2017.  She loved her family, traveling and animals of all sorts. Her favorite activities included kayaking, camping and spending time with family.  

Jean is preceded in death by Ralph Howard (Father), Veronica Howard (Mother), James Howard (her twin), and her brothers Ralph E., Anthony (Tony), and Lawrence (Larry) Howard. 

Jean is survived by daughter Sherrie Moorcroft, and son Joshua Garren (Mende), sisters Helen Thomas (Mike) of Idaho, Terry Cotton (Charles) of North Carolina, and brother Steve Howard. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday July 23, 2022 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm to include a short service at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home in Goose Creek, South Carolina. The service will be live streamed for those unable to attend in person.
