Janpen Homon Collins, 83, of Goose Creek, SC passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
Born on July 19, 1940 in Bangkok, Thailand, she was a daughter of the late Anong Kidsri.
Young Janpen married and moved to the US with her husband “Frank” in the 70’s and they made his home state of SC their home. Many years later, on August 21, 2006, she became an American citizen. She loved the US, politics, and The Atlanta Braves. She especially loved her Thai food, laarb, som tum, shrimp red curry, all of it. She used to make Thai egg rolls from scratch, even the egg roll skins, in which she would sell. At annual family reunions everyone looked forward to her famous fried rice island in which she would make trees out of green onions and carve flowers out of radishes. When she was able, she gardened and grew her plants in her backyard of Thai basil, lemongrass, rosemary, tomatoes, and hot Thai peppers. She even had some pear and fig trees that she shared with her neighbors. In her later days you would find her sitting in her garage, enjoying her days in the sun, or catching up on America’s Got Talent, The Voice, or American Idol. She loved all animals and treated them like her children, feeding them steak or KFC chicken. Above all, she loved her family and friends and always made to sure to check on them.
Janpen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Williams F. Collins of SC; her mother, Anong Kidsri of Thailand; and her sister, Bouehom Lohitkoopt of Thailand.
Janpen is survived by her daughter, Linda F. North (Robert James, III) of KY; her grandson, Avery Hamrlik of VA; her great-granddaughter, Cora Hamrlik of VA; and her sister, Pim Worawong of NJ.
