Jane M. Small

Jane M. Small 88, entered into eternal rest on November 4, 2017 at Hospice of Charleston-Mt. Pleasant, SC surrounded by her family.

Jane was born in Shelby, NC to the late Ralph and Lillie Mae Mauney. She was a graduate of Winthrop University, and obtained her masters in music education at Converse University. She founded the Byrnes High School band program, taught band in Blacksburg, SC, and middle school chorus in Gaffney, SC. Jane was a member of the Limestone Presbyterian Church for 50 years where she sang in the choir. She loved to travel, garden, attend concerts, and loved spending valuable time with her family. Her family will remember her as a life time advocate of fine arts, a loving mother, grandmother, friend, and a devoted Christian.
Besides her parents, Jane is predeceased by her husband Ed Small of 62 years and 3 brothers.

Jane is survived by her children; Carole (Walter) Russell, Karen (Scott) Whitley; grandchildren, Matthew and David Whitley as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held TODAY, November 6, 2017 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 2501 Bees Ferry Rd., Charleston, SC 29414.

Her funeral service will be held on November 7, 2017 at 3:00pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1157 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. Charleston, SC 29414. Burial will be held at Frederick Memorial Gardens, 986 Chesnee Hwy. Gaffney, SC 29341 on November 8, 2017 at 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church music fund or Hollings Cancer Center neuro-oncology fund. Memorials can be made on-line at Hollingscancercenter.org
