James Douglas "Jimbo" Thompson

James “Jimbo” Thompson, passed away September 27, 2024, at the young age of 55. 

Born June 9, 1969, in Savannah, GA, raised on pluff mud and the salty waters of Charleston, SC. 

Jimbo embraced life with a passion and loving those around him with all of his heart. 

An outdoor enthusiast, Jimbo was a skilled diver, pilot, skydiver, fisherman, snowboarder and a master of horticulture.

He lived life to the fullest, embracing every adventure and opportunity that came his way.

His greatest joy came from spending time on his boat, where he created cherished memories with family and friends. He was an entrepreneur at heart, always seeking new business opportunities and inspiring those around him with his enthusiasm and determination.

Jimbo loved his family deeply and he never met a stranger; his warm, welcoming spirit made everyone feel like a friend, and his genuine kindness touched the lives of all who knew him.

Jimbo was a proud father to his daughter, Jessie, and a beloved grandfather to his granddaughter, Violet.

He leaves behind his daughter, Jessie Thompson; his mother, Diane DeGarady; his granddaughter, Violet Olson; his sister; Kim Warren and brother; Donnie Thompson.

Join us to celebrate Jimbo’s life on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Folly Beach County Park from 4-7 PM. Service to begin at 5:30.
