Mr. James Phillip Klutz , 76, of Mt. Pleasant, SC died on Saturday, September 13, 2014. He was born on Saturday, September 25, 1937 in Charlotte, NC to Mrs. Vivian A. Klutz and the late Mr. James C Klutz. Phil proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a jet engine mechanic and was a member of the VFW Post 14000 of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He was a proud Christian that sponsored and participated with the Covenant House in New York, a Catholic Organization that fed and clothed needy children. Phil loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband for 31 years and cherished his grand children. He is survived by his daughters; Michelle (Michael )Davis of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Donna Blackmon of Charlotte, NC, grand children; Jordan Davis of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Steven Cloninger of Charlotte, NC, Melisa Blackmon of Florida, Duke Blackmon of Virginia, his mother; Ms. Ann Vivian Beattie of Charlotte, NC and his sister; Anne Nesbitt of Winston Salem, NC, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 31 years, Geraldine Klutz and his daughter; Crystal Cloninger. A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, SC 28208. Friends and family wishing to attend may meet directly at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Hospice of Charleston.
