Dr. James M. Whitcomb, 59, of Goose Creek, passed away June 17, 2014. Born in Springfield, IL, he was the son of Loretta C. Boone and the late Robert Whitcomb and husband to Tami Whitcomb. Dr. Jimm was a retired Veterinarian. He and his wife owned and operated The Lovin’ Care Animal Clinic in Largo, FL. Dr. Jimm enjoyed traveling, the beach, his animals and gardening. His family remembers him as a loving husband and father. He was a kind, generous and loving friend to many people - one who never met a stranger. Dr. Jimm was a “jack of all trades†and brilliant in mind and body. He was a man of God and had a strong faith. He touched innumerable lives. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty three years, Tami Whitcomb of Goose Creek; two sons, Todd Whitcomb of Alaska and Sean Whitcomb of Arizona; mother, Loretta C. Boone of Summerville; sister, Marilyn Schaffner and husband Jim of Summerville; mother and father-in-law, Edward and Dorothy Tork of Goose Creek. Dr. Jimm was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Rita Whitcomb. Memorial service will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL, 869 St. James Avenue. The family will receive friends prior to service from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
