James "Jimmy" Anthony Bihlear

James Anthony Bihlear, 69, of Goose Creek, SC, passed away on October 16, 2023, surrounded by his wife, children and loved ones.

Born on October 30, 1953, in Charleston, SC, he was the son of the late John and Bobbie Jo Bihlear.

Jimmy was an outdoorsman. He loved bass fishing, hunting, and piddling in the yard. He was a former member of Charleston Bassmasters, he fished the BFL circuit and Fishers of Men Bass Trail with his brother, Johnny, and numerous local tournaments with his son, Jimbo. He loved watching Teru play football and baseball, and his other grandchildren’s sporting activities. Jimmy was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and always supported his beloved USC Gamecocks, no matter what. He loved to go to the mountains and enjoyed his getaway to the casino. Jimmy rededicated his life to Jesus Christ while fishing the Fishers of Men Bass trail with his brother. Above all, Jimmy LOVED his family and was always there for them.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his son, Matthew Brooks Bihlear; parents, John and Bobbie Jo Bihlear; brother, Joey Bihlear; sister, Joyce Gooch; and his beloved grandmother, Lillian Wright.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 38 years, Susan Bihlear; five children: James Bihlear, Jr. and his wife, Kerry; Amy Bihlear; Brooks Bihlear and his wife, Chelsea; Melinda Bihlear; Dallas Durling and husband, Michael; Tarik Elam and wife, Shannon; a brother, Johnny Bihlear and his wife, Jan; 13 grandchildren: Amanda Bihlear and fiance’, Ryan; Matthew Bihlear and fiancé, Tori; Shane Ferguson and fiance’, Cierra; Hailey Durling; Jacob Bihlear and fiancé, Maddie; Michael Bihlear; Teru Davis, Jr.; Rilynne Durling; Jase Durling’ Ja’kyi Bihlear; MJ Bihlear; Alashia Henderson and Tessa Abernathy; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on  Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from 1:00 PM, until the memorial service at 2:00 PM, held at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek.
