James "J.D." Donald Harrelson, II, 22 of Orange Park, FL, formerly of Goose Creek, SC went home to be with his heavenly Father on January 31, 2021.
J.D. was born on February 6, 1998 in Anchorage, Alaska, a son of James R. and Melody A. Harrelson.
J.D. was a very accomplished young man. J.D. earned Eagle Scout at age 13, then earned 132 Merit Badges and 13 palms. He was elected to The Order of The Arrow by his peers, he was a member of Sea Scouts and Trail Life. At Stratford High School, J.D. was a member of the National Honor Society and a three sport athlete. He was a ROTC program graduate, a BSA National Youth Leadership Training instructor, a 6 time state wrestling qualifier and a 4 time placer. He earned belts in 3 martial arts and was an athletics and academics full scholarship recipient. J.D. was an Honor Graduate from the US Army Computer Science Technical School. He earned an Associate of Science in Science at Spartanburg Methodist College (Phi Beta Kappa & Summa Cum Laude). He was a nationally rated collegiate wrestler, qualified and competed in the US NJCAA Championships in Iowa. He was a Computer Information Systems and Business Administration major at Lander University. He was also a Specialist in the SC Army National Guard in Signal Corps, Computer Information Systems. J.D.'s next goal in life was to develop a real estate business in Florida.
In addition to his parents, J.D. is survived by a brother, Andrew L Harrelson and three sisters, Esther C Harrelson, Sarah J Harrelson and Elizabeth L Harrelson.
Some of J.D.'s favorite bible verses that he kept tucked away close were Jeremiah 29: 11-13 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." Psalms 139:14 "I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are your works, and my soul knows it very well." Psalms 140:13 "Surely the righteous will give thanks to Your Name: The upright will dwell in Your presence." Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart."
The Harrelson family would like to thank all family, friends and mentors of J.D. Harrelson, II for your love, support and time you sowed into this good man. His story of overcoming is amazing. We thought we lost him as a child but he would not be defeated. He knew God and knew all blessings came from Him His life was shorter than some, but richer than many. Thank you all for your understanding, love, patience and support.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Seacoast Church, 301 E 5th N St, Summerville, SC 29483 from 1pm to 3pm.
