Husband and father James David Williams, 79, passed away April 15, 2022, at his home in Goose Creek, SC with his wife of 30 years, Maureen, by his side.
Jim was born on June 24, 1942 in Turtle Creek, PA to Bill and Jane Williams. Jim had an older sister, Phyllis, and was the second oldest of four brothers, Chuck, Bob, Jack, and William.
Jim enlisted in the Navy at 17 years old. Over his 32 years of service, serving mostly aboard submarines, he traveled the world and climbed the ranks until retirement from the rate of Master Chief and the position of Command Master Chief in 1992. In the decades following, Jim enjoyed a successful second career of nearly 30 more years in real estate with Carolina One in the Goose Creek and North Charleston area.
Jim’s broad interests included woodworking, gardening, and birdwatching. He maintained numerous friendships from the Navy and often could be found visiting friends in the Charleston area and further abroad. He will be missed by his regular Tuesday evening company at the Low Country chapter of the Fleet Reserve. In all his social circles, Jim was known for his personability and quick wit; he always was genuinely happy to go out of his way to help friends and family.
