James “Jim” Bryant Lowman, 71, of Elloree, passed away October 3, 2017.
Born in Lakeland, FL, he was the son of the late James Washington Lowman and Ellen Stokes Lowman and husband to the late Brenda Lowman. After high school, he joined the United States Navy proudly serving his country for twenty three years, retiring as a Master Chief. Following his Navy service, he went on to work in public service for South Carolina Ports Authority as a Maintenance Foreman and then retiring from Berkeley County Water and Sanitation as the Superintendent of Maintenance. Jim was a member of Sub Vet's and Goose Creek American Legion. He was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing, carpentry, restoring furniture and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Tara Hammett of Georgetown, Kelly Hiers and husband Bryan of Midlothian, VA, Jamie Lowman and wife Sandy of Elgin and Michael Lowman of Elloree; grandchildren, Grant, Wesley, Luke, Mary-Ellen, Grayson and Caroline.
A visitation will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm with a Memorial Service with military honors to follow in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the MUSC Children's Hospital Fund, Pediatric Hemoc Department, 59 Bee Street, MSC 201 Charleston, SC 29425.
