Jackie Allen "Jack" Ritter

Jackie Allen “Jack” Ritter, 68 of Johns Island, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024.

Born on July 13, 1956, in Walterboro, SC, Jack was a son of Sarah Deloris (Fennell) Ritter and the late James Allen Ritter, Jr.

Jack grew up in Walterboro, SC and went to John C. Calhoun Academy. He graduated from the Baptist College of Charleston. Jack started as an accountant and went on to become a Vice President of Piggly Wiggly Carolina Company/Greenbax Enterprises. He was also owner of Oakridge Nursery in Green Pond, SC. Jack was a member of Grace Point Church and for many years was a member and deacon at Fort John Baptist Church. Jack was a devoted and loving husband and father to his wife Suzanne and daughter Sarah. Jack loved the beach, snow skiing, sunset boat rides, offshore fishing, and hunting. He also loved playing cards and boardgames with friends and family. Jack fought a very long battle with Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinsons.

Jack is preceded in death by his father James Allen Ritter, Jr. and his nephew Logan Dodds. 

Jack is survived by his wife of 30 years, Suzanne Marie (Hutcheson) Ritter; daughter, Sarah Ritter; mother, Sarah Deloris (Fennell) Ritter; sister, Debi (Ritter) Dodds of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and niece Jessica (Dodds) Stone of Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 2:00 to 3:00pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation – James Island, 347 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412. The funeral service will follow at 3:00pm.

The burial will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Live Oak Cemetery in Walterboro, South Carolina.
